Things to do Near Toronto Before the End of Summer

I've been taking this global pandemic as an opportunity to continuously explore the many beautiful places near Toronto. So if you're also looking to feed your travel bug here are a few more things to explore! Sandbanks Provincial Park

On our way back from Montreal, my mom and I made an impromptu stop at Sandbanks! Although every single sign on the way there said the park was closed, we decided to go anyway. The park was open for camping only but we asked one of the employees if we were able to go see the beach anyway. We were able to sneak in and walk around the beach a bit before we left. The water was beautiful and the white sand dunes felt like I was walking on clouds. I wish I could've stayed the whole day however I think if you stay there without a reservation, your car may be ticketed. It's a great place to spend a few days camping with friends or family but book in advance!

These pies are absolutely to die for! Every time I go on a road trip I have to pass by this place cause oh man these pies, I'm drooling right now. Colbourne's Big Apple, located just off the side of the 401 is a place you can't miss and definitely won't want to miss!

Wine Tasting in Niagara

Niagara is filled with wineries and an amazing place to go for the day! We visited Peller Estates Winery with fantastic wines for only $10 wine tastings! You will need to make reservations for each place but there are spots available if you want to book for the same day. If you're the designated driver for the day, ask for a spittoon. It's a fancy name for a cup where you can spit your wine out. We also saw a lot of people biking around the wineries so they didn't have to drive! Can you imagine biking after your third winery of the day?

I also love stopping by COWS ice cream at Niagara-on-the-Lake. Other than Kawartha ice cream this is my all-time favourite place! I first tried it in PEI and fell in love. My favourite flavour is Wowie Cowie because you will say WOW when you try it. While you enjoy your ice cream, the town is beautiful to walk around, browse the local shops or stop by the park.

Cap off your road trip with beautiful rooftop views of downtown Toronto and snap a photo with the CN Tower. They have strict COVID-19 precautions place as they wristband and screen you at the door and you cannot go in without a reservation. So book online in advance! If you're looking for a chill time to relax, enjoy the view and have a drink, this is the place to go.

Cottaging

We still have a few good days left to enjoy a weekend at the cottage. There are beautiful cottages to rent all over Ontario for a fun, relaxing weekend getaway. My friend's cottage is up in Chandos Lake, it's always such a treat to spend our summers up there. Here are some of the best places to rent out a cottage. You could also be relaxing, having a good time, away from the city like me! 🛀🏽

What adventures have you been able to take this summer? Do you have any final plans before the weather starts to get cool again? Let me know in the comments!
